About the masks

Half and full face masks are cast in molds created from original clay sculptures.  Each mask is individually cast in liquid neoprene rubber (not anything like the wetsuit material). Mask-making neoprene is a semi-flexible, lightweight, extremely durable material.  It will not deteriorate with time the way that latex does.  A neoprene mask is about 1/8" thick, and not "wiggly" like latex. The masks hold their shape, but have enough "give" to conform comfortably to different faces. Each mask is handpainted and has an elastic strap securely riveted in place.
Larger over-the-head masks, such as many of the animals and creatures, are constructed out of lightweight millinary buckram (sort of like needlepoint canvas, but with a finer mesh).  The buckram is reinforced with lightweight wire and coated with a finish that makes it very rigid and durable, without sacrificing lightness. This type of mask is made directly over the clay sculpt, which gets destryoed in the process.  Thus all of the buckram masks are one-of-a-kind, and are priced accordingly.
